Ooey Gooey World o' Goo!

So I bought this game last night called "World of Goo" (I know, right?) And it is pretty awesome! I mean who wouldn't enjoy attached goo balls to eachother to make huge goo towers and bridges and even goo balloons to float giant pink goo balls (with colligen enhanced lips) to their destination (a pipe).

Yeah, amazing.

Don't take my word for it!

Preeeeeeeeetty sweet, huh? I actually bought it from the Wii shop on my Wii. $15. And i think it's pretty well worth it, espcially considering the crap games out there selling for $60 or more.

I also had five dollars left over to buy Super Mario Bro's 3.

I know, I'm pretty psyched about it =D I totally remember playing this game when I was like 5, 6, and 7. So great.

So great.

Oh Somewhere deep inside of these bones...

I've not posted much this last week.  As you can all probably tell.  (All two of you)

But I'm here.  Halloween was fun!  I enjoyed dressing up and making yummy edible delights for everyone, including Chili Cups and Mulled Caramel Apple Cider.

The day started out like any other - I woke up at noon... I mean I woke up and showered and decided what I wanted to make for the party and what I needed to get at the store.  The night before I stopped by Wally World and got supplies for my costume which, in keeping with the theme of the house, was gonna be Jack Skellington (the Pumpkin King).
Yeah, I know.  AWESOME!

In the coneption of my costume, I researched others attempts at their emulation of such a "nightmare" idol.  I found a few attempts.  But let me emphasize the word attempts.

Attempt #1

Okay, let's start with the positives:
  1. He looks like Jack - that's important.  If I was walking down the cul-de-sac and I saw this fine gentleman pass me, I'd say "Oh, look!  He's Jack!"
  2.  .... okay that's all I have
There are a few problems I have with this attempt:
  1. Unflattering suit - I'm sorry, but this suit just does not flatter his figure.  It's way too small, and this guy doesn't look super trim.  Jack is a skeleton for crying out loud.  And the way the suit buttons and reveals his belly... just... no.
  2. Head - okay... it just looks weird... and I can't really put my finger on why.  Supposedly it's a four-square ball that he painted.  Maybe because of the body to head ratio, it just looks a little... off.  It also looks like his head is about to fall off.
  3. Hand painted stripes - I actually think the hand painted effect could've turned out really nice, but in this situation, the stripes just add to the "offness" of the entire outfit.
  4. The bat-tie - ?????
Next.

Attempt #2

Okay.... cool!  Now this one caught my attention with the really cool oversized head.  It was made from a crash helmet, papier-mache and then painted to create a very neat effect.  The bat-tie was also well done, but too straight edged and stiff for my taste.  The suit is very plain and his hands are bare, so I was ecstatic about the whole outfit, but the head was definitely a keeper.

Attempt #3

First thought: "there is no way I'm shaving my head for this outfit."

I have to say, this guy went pretty far out to get the whole affect.  However, his shaved head and make-up kind of freaked me out, and reminded me of someone...
Other than the creepy face painting, I actually like the suit, although it is oversized and the stripes are a little much.  With that and the bat tie, he looks more like zebra wallpaper than anything.

"Sorry, death, you lose."
"Uh... best three out of five?"

So I really didn't have much inspiration after seeing these guys, other than I knew my costume would be better.  I juggled the idea of making a big papier-mache head like the cool number two, but weeks passed and I the eve of Halloween came I hadn't done any preparation.  So, I'm at Wally-World and I pick up some face paint, hair color, and pipe cleaners and head home.

Since I didn't create a head, and I wasn't about to shave mine, I decided to use my hair to an advantage.  And... well... in stead of explaining it, I'll just show it to you...

*drum roll*

Ta da!!!

So I decided not to go 'classic' jack and just use what I had.  I decided to be an 'emo' jack.  Which is cooler anyway, right?  And check out that hair!  Like... Shut up!

(I didn't just say that)

Well, goodnight everyone.  Halloween was fun, chili was good, cider was scrumptious and I looked amazing.  All in a good days work.

No! That's My New Philosophy

I find philosophy very confusing. But not because I don't understand or grasp concepts, but because I find myself agreeing with everything... even if that means disagreeing with something I agree with. THAT DOESN'T EVEN MAKE SENSE!!!

Anyhoo, I found this test that determines your philosophy. I actually think it's really stupid after taking it, but whatever, here are my results:

Spiritualist

60 optimism, 65 faith, and 46 logic!

Spiritualists rely on faith more than anything else. They will always believe in a supernatural power over scientific reasoning. Although they may worship different deities (God, Allah, Buddah, Zeus, and so on), the underlying philosophy is the same. Most spiritualists will seek higher answers in religious works, rather than philosophical reflection, and they tend to be fiercely devoted to their beliefs, even when all evidence points against it.

Famous spiritualists include: Blaise Pascal.

The opposite of Spiritualism is Regressionism.

This made me mad because I already knew I was spiritual! Dang it, I wanna know my philosophy!!!

So I took it again in the mindset of an ignorant athiest (no offense) :

Realist

Realists are the only philosophers not actively seeking answers. They are content with accepting that the world around them exists, and don't bother themselves about how we came to be. They focus on where we're going, rather than how we got here. Realists also tend to be interested in "universals" - concepts that can describe large groups, rather than single objects. For example, there are more interested in the human race as a whole, rather than specific types of people. This philosophy is also sometimes called Idealism.

Famous realists include: Plato.

The opposite of Realism is Foundationalism.

Okay, I like Plato :) I also really like Kant and Spinoza. Funny thing is their philosophies don't agree with each other, haha. Except I guess they are all Rationalists to some degree (though Kant's philosophy tried to bring rationalism and empiricism together, which is why he is so thought of so fondly in my eyes - "Why can't we all just get along") And Spinoza was just a lovely fellow who saw God in all things :)

I just looked up Pascal (he's not in my textbook for some reason) and I think I really like him, too. So maybe I'm okay with being considered a spiritualist :) Though on the website I read about him, they classified him as a Realist. What are names, though, but merely names?

Okay I was trying to be philosophical there, but it didn't work. Darn.

I'll leave this with you for thought.

Late Night Loves

Liberal propaganda I'm still up. I think it's the combination of the Ibuprofen finally kicking in and the six chocolate-chip cookies I made earlier (Yum, btw). I love cookies.

I also love Relient k. Oh how I love them. I have all of their albums, and they are the third most played artist on my Ipod (falling closely behind MCR and Mae). It seems they have the perfect song for every mood I am in. When I'm particularly angry with the world and the stupid people who seem to fill it, I like to listen to "I So Hate Consequences". The title pretty much sums up the main idea of the song. It's about making mistakes and being mad that you made them. And probably the best part (and one of the reasons why I just absolutely adore Relient k) is the ending. After the hormones and denial have finished running their course, the music calms and Matt sings

"When I got tired of running from you
I stopped right there to catch my breath

There your words they caught my ears
You said, 'I miss you, son. Come home.'
And my sins, they watched me leave
And in my heart I so believed

The love you felt for me was more than
The love I'd wished for all this time.
And when the doors were closed
I heard no I told you so's.
I said the word's I knew you knew
'God, oh God I needed you
God all this time I needed you.
I needed you.'"

Awwwwww!

Wow. Just wow, it's so amazing and it completely has the right affect on me.

A songs that starts on just as much of a positive note as it ends is "The Up and Up". Which is just a fantastic song altogether.

Now, just add another dimension to an already well-rounded group is their humor. And puns, oh my they are punny! :P And how could a band not be great when they have a song about Thundercats?!

Okay, enough raving. In closing, Relient k is amazing, and I still can't believe I'm up.

Pandora is probably the coolest website ever invented.

That is all.

What the heck is a Blog?

When I first decided to start a blog the first question that popped into my mind was "What's that smell?". I answered that question quite promptly after I realized the dog sitting right next to me. The next question was "Okay, I'm gonna make a blog, but what the heck am I gonna right about?"
My answer to that was:

"Whatever I want!"

So unfortunately for all you who know me well enough that you are obligated to read this, I'm going to be writing whatever comes to my mind. Be it a philosophical insight, a new band I love, or an old band that I still love, a cool new fact that made me life, or cry, or both.
Maybe, in time, my blog will take a new and more firm direction, but that day is not today. So for now we have to deal with the crowded colorful mess that is my mind.

I hope that those who already know me well won't be totally frightened by the new things they may learn about me, and I hope I don't meet any of you who decide you want to get to know me. I'd be wary of your intentions to say the least.

On that note, I love you all and I hope I don't offend anyone with my sarcasm :)
